Beautiful! How did you get so close?
If you are still for awhile, hummingbirds get more comfortable and you can get very close. It also depends on the individual bird and the circumstances. This one was defending its territory, and as such, would not leave this group of flowers.
Do you ever leave out sugar water to further attract them to your lens? Or been stung by a bee from being too close to a hummingbird's territory?
I like seeing them on their own terms so I don't feed them, just find them. Luckily all my bee encounters thus far have been non-sting affairs.
