Sutro Bath Couple

I went to Sutro Baths to check on the Burrowing Owl and was met by a lovely pair of resident Red-tails. The light was strange, filtered by the encroaching fog. Soon the entire place was socked in. Never did see the owl but it was an eventful 45 minutes nonetheless.
A peaceful pair. (click the image to view larger)

The male departs on an unsuccessful hunt.

Copulation commences.

The female is definitely bigger than the male who has a beautiful rusty orange color.

The fog closes in and the male flies up into Sutro Heights Park.

The female keeps an optimistic watch on the hillside below. Oddly, she switches light posts, going back and forth over my head 6 times, restless but not bothered.
